NVIDIA Released New Beta Driver 440.26

NVIDIA Corporation has released a new beta driver for its graphics cards. Many new features and enhancements have been added to this release.

This time, NVIDIA worked on performance on Steam Play Proton/Wine. Also improved support for DXVK and Vulkan API. NVIDIA has now taken up support for GNU/Linux and the results are impressive.

Here is a short list of changes and improvements for the 440.26 driver:

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Vulkan applications from working on systems configured for SLI. Vulkan applications can now work with SLI enabled; however, they will be able to use only one GPU.
  • Added EGL support for PRIME technology.
  • The regression introduced in 435.19.02 was fixed, due to which some applications using the extension VK_KHR_DISPLAY led to a segmentation error.
  • Fixed a bug in games on DXVK: Saints Row IV and Saints Row: The Third.
  • Added support for VP9 decoding in the NVIDIA VDPAU driver.
  • Return to system memory when video memory is full for some internal driver allocations. This can help fix Xid 13 and Xid 31 in Vulkan apps when the video memory is full.
