It is Electronic Arts' digital distribution platform that enables users to purchase PC games over the Internet and download them using the Origin client (formerly EA Download Manager, EA Downloader and EA Link). On June 3, 2011, the EA Store was renamed Origin. In 2011, Electronic Arts said it would like Origin to match its main competitor, Steam, by adding cloud saves, auto-updating games, achievements, and cross-platform releases. Origin uses social features such as profile management, chatting and playing with friends using the in-game app, Facebook, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network integrations. At the moment, it is possible to auto-update games, synchronize game saves in the cloud storage, communicate in the built-in chat. By 2013, Origin had over 50 million registered users.
