Edge Linux release

On September 22, 2020 Microsoft announced the release of the Linux version of the Edge browser.

At the moment, the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser is only available for download on Windows PCs (7/8 / 8.1 / 10) and macOS, and can also be installed on iOS or Android mobile devices.

The Microsoft development team is busy adding new features to the Edge browser to make it stand out from other Chromium competitors. However, Microsoft plans to release a preview of Edge for Linux in October 2020.

“Our mission to bring Microsoft Edge to the platforms our customers use on a daily basis is taking the next step by making Microsoft Edge for Linux available in the developer channel starting in October,” Microsoft explained.

Microsoft Edge for Linux will support mobile app management. System administrators will also be able to restrict corporate users' access to various web pages. The developers plan to add support for WebView2 and Visual Studio Code 1.0 extensions to the browser.
